Change often fails

“Change often fails because the Rider simply can’t keep the Elephant on the road long enough to reach the destination”

The elephant is not always the bad guy, Emotion is the Elephant’s turf- Love, compassion, sympathy, loyalty.  When you feel that you need to stand for yourself, that’s Elephant and even more important if you contemplating the change, the Elephant is the one who get the things done. Rider’s weakness is spinning his wheels

The Rider tends to overanalyze and over think things. If you have to bring a change, you have to appeal to both. Riders provide the planning and direction whereas Elephant provides energy. If you reach the rider of your team but not the elephant, team members will have understanding without motivation and in the opposite situation; they will have passion without direction.

In both cases, flaws can be paralyzing. A reluctant elephant and wheel spinning rider can both ensure that nothing changes but when elephant and rider moves together, Change can easily come.
